Chromium is a chemical element with the symbol Cr and atomic number 24. It is a highly valued transition metal known for its high corrosion resistance and hardness, making it a popular choice for steel production.

It is also commonly used in chrome plating, which is electroplating with chromium, and together with stainless steel, comprises about 85% of chromium’s commercial use.

Chromium is also known for its ability to be highly polished while resisting tarnishing, and is thus often used in products such as car parts, faucets, and kitchen utensils.

Industrial production of chromium involves extracting it from chromite ore through aluminothermic or silicothermic reactions to form ferrochromium, an iron-chromium alloy.

Ferrochromium is used to produce alloys such as stainless steel. Moreover, pure chromium metal is produced by a different process called roasting and leaching of chromite to separate it from iron, followed by reduction with carbon and then aluminum.

$ sudo apt-get install chromium-browser
